LG is a consumer-oriented company, which has been found in the year 1947. They have explored them in various fields like Electronics, Chemicals, and Telecommunication & Services. This company has a total of 31 companies operating in Korea with the ancillary companies of 130 operating in different countries. Total number of employees is more than 1 lakh. The company started their manufacturing process in Electronics and Chemical Industries during the period of (1947-1959).

The best thing of LG is that its products come in very cheap price and runs till long life. Lucky Cream was the first product manufactured by LG Company. Later they marked their entry into plastic industry.

Combs, soap cases, toothbrushes, tableware and plastic containers are the products that have come in to the market. The year 1954 saw the toothpaste production in this company, which had excelled the Colgate product. One would prefer to buy because of the salient features present in these products.

LG oil Company was set up in the year 1959. Soaps and glycerin were by products released by the company.

Their footing in to Electronics industry happened in the year 1958 in the name of Goldstar Company, which has the credit of manufacturing Korean’s first radio. The feedback they got from the customer made them to come with an electronic industry.

Electric fans were produced in 1960, refrigerators in 1964, and black-&-white TVs in 1966. Hanguk Cable Industries was set up in the year 1962.

Honam oil refinery Co. later came be to known as GS Caltex came in to existence in the year 1967. The year 1968 and 1969 saw the birth of Air conditioners, and washing machines and elevators.

LG entered the Insurance sector in the year 1970. It was the year 1983 that has seen the company’s re entry into cosmetic industry.

The company interest towards the petrochemical field was seen in the year 1988. They made a partnership with Philips Company and brought LCD product in the year 1991.

In 1995 LG was renamed as Digital LG. LG DOW Polycarbonate was set up in the year 1999. LG chemical merged with LG Daesan Chemical in the year 2004. LG Company has recorded the highest sales of air conditioners in the year 2006.
