The original Cricket bat was similar in looks like a modern hockey one. According to the 42 laws of cricket, a cricket bat should be no more than 38 inches (96.5 cm) in length and the width should not be more than 4.25 inches (10.6 cm).
The blade must be made of wood and particularly white willow wood. A cricket bat is made of willow wood and sealed with linseed oil consisting of a handle and paddle. The handle is taped similar to that of a tennis racket.
In case of a Baseball/Softball there are different specifications for different games or level of play. The specification for a Softball bat is Length should be 34 inches; weight should be 38 ounces and a Barrel Diameter of 21/4 inches.
The maximum specifications for a Baseball for Youth League tournaments should be Length 33 inches, No restriction in weight with a barrel diameter of 2 1/4 inches.
The specifications for an Adult League baseball bats are length 35 inches with no restriction in weight and a barrel diameter of 2 5/8 inches.
It should also have a specific length-to-weight ratio i.e. the difference between the length in inches and its weight in ounces and it should be 3 for college and high school baseball.
End Loading is something usually found in softball bats. It means some material should be added to the end of the barrel to add weight to create more of an end-balanced one.
